Born in 1952 in Ludinghausen, Germany, Alfred Gockel was fascinated with art from a very young age. His talent and enthusiasm lead to his first publication at the tender age of 8. Gockel went on to study typography, graphic design and advertising at the Polytechnic Institute in Munster where he graduated in 1977. In 1983, Gockel and his wife, Ingrid, founded Avant Art, a leading player in the Abstract area of the market, with customers in over 50 countries worldwide.
