The Spoken Word, “Welcome to the Mic”

Picture That Unlimited also hosts “Welcome to the Mic”.

The Hampton Roads area has a very talented population of Spoken Word artists. If you would like to be a part of this wonderful event, or even participate, please feel free to join us and share your Spoken Word talents. “Welcome to the Mic” will be held on the First Friday of each month, from 7:00-9:00pm and is hosted by Shawn T. Singletary.

Shawn T. Singletary's Bio:

What can be said of Shawn T. Singletary. He has been in the entertainment business for quite some time. Beginning a spoken word career only 7 years ago, he has released two albums, two chapbooks, hosted numerous events, and represented the spoken word community all across the country.

His passion for the word has been shown in his want to express truth through his emotion. He has taught Spoken Wordshops to the youth and several occasions and only wants to bring his talent to the table to show that all are able. He has been pursuing the dream of becoming a full time entertainer while maintaining his position as a Naval officer. His only hope is that he is able to convey the message that anyone can get on stage to show their life in prose.

Now he hosts the open mic at Picture That Unlimited Art Gallery in a comfortable setting. Come out and join us for a free flowing environment of creativity! Bring a pad and a pen because you will be inspired!
